John Nater was raised on a family pig farm in Logan Township (now West Perth). As a proud conservative he previously served in a number of volunteer positions and worked on many political campaigns to advance conservative values at the national, provincial and local level.
John earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management (BPAPM) from Carleton University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Queen’s University.
Prior to being elected to Parliament John served on West Perth Municipal Council from 2010 – 2014 representing the Mitchell Ward.
John Nater was elected as the Member of Parliament for Perth—Wellington in the 42nd General Election in 2015. He was re-elected in the 43rd General Election in 2019 and again in the 44th General Election in 2021.
John lives in Mitchell with his family.
