John Nater

Meet Your MP

John Nater was raised on a family pig farm in Logan Township (now West Perth). John lives in Mitchell with his family.

John earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management (BPAPM) from Carleton University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Queen’s University. 

Prior to being elected to Parliament John served on West Perth Municipal Council from 2010 – 2014 representing the Mitchell Ward. 

John Nater has served as the Member of Parliament for Perth—Wellington since 2015.

During his time in Parliament, he has worked to improve the lives of his constituents through numerous initiatives including improving essential infrastructure, upgrading rural internet access, defending Canadian agriculture, ending internal trade barriers, protecting children and the vulnerable from dangerous offenders, and promoting safe sport.

As a member of the Public Accounts Committee John has dedicated himself to fighting corruption, opposing wasteful spending, and restoring accountability in government.
